New York University junior Hany Abdallah captured the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week award after his record-setting performance at the 113th Annual Penn Relays Carnival in Philadelphia on April 26.

Competing as the only Division III participant in the College 5,000-Meter Championship Run, Abdallah placed 14th out of 32 runners with an NCAA Division III automatic-qualifying time of 14:12.46.

Abdallah's time was not only the fastest in Division III this season by 10.82 seconds, but he broke both the NYU outdoor (14:27.65 set by Ryan Williams this spring) and indoor (14:26.85 set by Abdallah in 2006) records.

Abdallah has already provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 10,000-meter run after clocking a time of 30:17.39, the eighth fastest in Division III this outdoor season.
